Free Stuff Worth Claiming in November 2026
In short
Fifteen genuinely free things this November — free park entry on Veterans Day, veterans' free meals, Museums on Us weekend, kids' workshops, a free Thanksgiving turkey — sorted by what each one actually asks of you.
November is the best month of the year for freebies that aren't samples. There's a free day at the national parks, the biggest restaurant giveaway on the calendar, a free museum weekend, and a free turkey — and almost all of it lands on specific dates. Miss the day and the offer is simply gone.
As always, "free" means different things. Some of these ask nothing of you; some ask you to prove you served; some only work if you already hold a particular card or spend a set amount; and one is free only if you cancel in time. So this month's list is sorted by what each one actually asks of you — and plotted on the calendar, because this month the date matters as much as the deal.
Free, and it asks nothing of you
National parks, wildlife refuges and national forests — Wednesday, Nov 11
Veterans Day is the last of the National Park Service's fee-free days for 2026: every NPS site that normally charges an entrance fee waives it for the day. The US Fish and Wildlife Service does the same at its fee-charging refuges, and the Forest Service lists Nov 11 as a fee-free day at its standard day-use sites (picnic areas, trailheads, visitor centers).
Two changes from earlier years. From 2026, the free entry is for US citizens and residents only, and visitors 16 and older may be asked for ID to prove it. And it's the entrance fee that goes away — camping, timed-entry reservations, tours and permits are still charged. If a park you want needs a reservation, book it now; the free day doesn't make one appear.
Free kids' workshops at Lowe's and Home Depot
Lowe's next free Kids' Workshop is a Holiday Engine build on Saturday, Nov 14, in store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You register through a MyLowe's Rewards account with a kids' profile — registration has been open since Oct 10, and popular stores fill, so sign up now rather than on the morning.
Home Depot's kids' workshop schedule lists a dump truck on Nov 7 and a Christmas car ornament on Nov 21. Check your local store's page before you go; times and sign-up vary by location.
Both are genuinely free, kit included. The cost is a Saturday morning, which, if you have small children, is arguably the point.
Your library card, which is free every month
Not a November thing, but worth repeating as the evenings get long: a library card typically unlocks free ebooks and audiobooks through Libby, and many systems add movies and TV through apps like Kanopy or Hoopla. What your card covers depends on your library — the library card guide walks through what to look for.
Free with proof of service: Veterans Day
Nov 11 falls on a Wednesday this year, and the restaurant offers are bigger than any other day. These are the ones confirmed for 2026 — by the chains' own pages or on the VA's official list, which the VA says it verified as of Oct 22 and keeps updating:
- Chili's — a free entrée from a limited Veterans Day menu (it lists Chicken Crispers, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla, the Oldtimer with Cheese, and soup and house salad). Dine-in only, Nov 11 only, drinks and tip not included.
- Golden Corral — Military Appreciation Night: a free buffet dinner and drink, dine-in, from late afternoon to close. Most listings say 4 p.m.; some say 5 p.m., so check your location.
- Bob Evans — one free item from a special Veterans Day menu, dine-in, with proof of service. Drink not included.
- Applebee's — a free dine-in entrée from its Veterans Day menu.
- Denny's — a free Original Grand Slam.
- Red Robin — a free burger with bottomless fries.
- Starbucks — a free 12-oz brewed coffee.
What counts as proof varies, but a military or VA ID card, a DD-214, or a veteran designation on your driver's license is accepted almost everywhere. Two practical notes: these are nearly all dine-in at participating locations, and lunch at the busy chains turns into a queue, so go early or go late. Some aggregator sites are still showing last year's wording — if a detail matters, check the chain's own page or app on the day.
Also free for veterans, all year: the military lifetime pass to national parks and other federal lands. Veterans and Gold Star families can pick one up free in person at a participating site; ordering it by mail through the USGS Store adds a $10 processing fee. If you're going to the parks on the 11th anyway, ask for it at the gate.
Free if you already have the card, or the spend
Museums on Us — Saturday and Sunday, Nov 7–8
On the first full weekend of each month, Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank cardholders get free general admission at participating museums across the country — one per cardholder, so each adult in the family needs their own card. Bring the card and a photo ID. Special exhibitions and ticketed events are usually excluded, and some museums are closed one of the two days, so check the museum before going. If you don't bank with them, this one isn't for you, and it isn't worth opening an account for.
A free Thanksgiving turkey at ShopRite — earn it by Nov 26
Spend $400 with the same Price Plus card at participating ShopRite stores between Oct 25 and Nov 26, 2026 and you get one free holiday item per household: a frozen Bowl & Basket turkey up to 21 lbs, or an alternative such as a ham, turkey breast, roasting chicken, Stouffer's party-size lasagna or a Tofurky. Maryland stores aren't included.
The honest maths: this is only free if you'd spend $400 at ShopRite in that month anyway — for a family doing its normal shop, that's often four or five weeks of groceries. If you'd have to switch stores or buy extra to hit it, it's a $400 purchase with a gift attached, not a free turkey.
Free only if you cancel
A Prime free trial, timed for Black Friday week
If you haven't had Prime recently, Amazon's standard free trial is 30 days, and when it ends it rolls into $14.99 a month unless you stop it. The trick is timing: start it around Thanksgiving (Nov 26) and one trial covers Black Friday on the 27th, Cyber Monday on the 30th, and free shipping on holiday orders deep into December.
Put the end date in your calendar before you finish signing up, with a reminder two days early. Same rule as every month — and if a few of these have already slipped through, the subscription audit is the fix. For the rest of that week, the Black Friday prep guide is the one to read.
Ran in past years — not confirmed for 2026 yet
We couldn't verify these for this year as of writing, so they're not in the list above. They're worth checking closer to the date:
- Election Day rides (Tue, Nov 3). Uber, Lyft and many local transit agencies offered free or discounted rides to the polls in 2020, 2022 and 2024. We found no 2026 announcement yet — check the apps and your transit agency's site the week before.
- Texas Roadhouse and Great Clips on Veterans Day. Both have run veterans' offers before (a meal voucher and a free-haircut card respectively); their 2026 terms weren't confirmed when we checked.
- Points-for-a-turkey at other grocers. Giant ran a points-for-a-free-turkey offer in 2025. Its 2026 version hadn't been confirmed — check your own grocery app before you assume.

The three rules for all of it
- Check the date, not just the deal. Almost everything this month is tied to one specific day. Put them in your calendar now.
- Bring the proof. ID for park entry, proof of service for Veterans Day, the right card for Museums on Us. Being turned away at the door is the most common way these "fail".
- Never pay a "processing fee" to receive something free — legitimate offers say plainly what, if anything, they charge (like the USGS Store's $10 for posting a pass). The warning signs of the other kind are in how to spot a fake store.
More of today's deals are below, and any November freebies that turn up after this goes out will be in there too.
